Meet Your Captain
Buck Cutlip

A twice retired U.S. Paratrooper and Long Range Surveillance Soldier and combat veteran of the Vietnam and Iraq wars, Buck Cutlip decided to relax a little bit. He chose the sailing world as the elixir to a better way of doing things, starting his education in the Gulf of Mexico on catamarans. Upon returning to Michigan, he was employed by a sailing school located on the waters of Lake St. Clair and proceeded to expand his sailing knowledge by entering the American Sailing Associations Instructor Qualification Course earning instructor status in: basic keelboat, coastal cruising, bareboat charter, coastal navigation, and advanced coastal cruising. Buck continued his maritime education by securing a U.S. Coast Guard Captains License and has sailed the Chesapeake Bay, Atlantic Ocean, Gulf of Mexico, Lake Michigan and Lake Huron, with an occasional visit to the Georgian Bay.

Today you’ll find him at Port Sanilac Marina aboard his Bayfield 32 the Merri Mack, a well loved Lake Huron treasure.
